Arabeh - Shekih Sabe’ (Burqin)

Located in the northwest of Ramallah, the name "Deir" is due to the presence of several monasteries in the area, and named "Deir Ammar" after its first inhabitants "Ammar", the village is famous for its stunning nature, which contains several spring of water and green nature highlights: such as Ein Fatima, Ein Nahed, and The Reserve of Ain Zarqa

You begin the walk at the yard of Deir Ammar village council.

Leave the council yard and turn left upwards. After 30 meters turn left again on the paved road to the north.

Turn right at the T-intersection turn right at a two-story house with four stores on the street.

At the first intersection (X), turn left and you’ll be heading westwards.

When you reach the intersection (L) on the left, continue straight towards north, then take the paved road to the left side.

When you reach the T-intersection (T), turn right.

Keep going straight west, walking past a two-story house with a high wall.

At the end of the wall, turn left up to the top of the hill, on the unpaved road, between a row of cypress trees.

At the top of the hill, you’ll find a garden and the Prophet Ghaith shrine. Continue walking to Ein Zarqa, going down the same road for 200 meters.

After 200 meters down from the shrine, turn left down to the bottom of the valley diagonally to the right, till you reach the paved street.

When you arrive at the paved street, cross and keep walking down it until you reach an unpaved road

When you have arrived at the seldom used unpaved road, turn left and head to the south. After some 100 meters turn right down another unpaved street.

When you reach the unpaved road, turn left and heading south, continue on the unpaved road

Follow the bend in the road to the right (Intersection L). In front of a one-story stone-built home, continue on the unpaved road from the other side of the valley near an animal farm.

When you arrive at a T-intersection on the unpaved road, turn right heading down the valley on an unpaved road amongst the olive fields. Before the intersection on the left-hand side of the street, you’ll see an ancient olive tree and next to it is Ain Fatima.

Continue walking on the unpaved road towards the bottom of the valley

When you reach a fork (intersection Y) in the unpaved road, go towards left down the unpaved road to the bottom of the valley.

You are now next to a windmill dating back to the Ottoman period. To the left and the right of the street are more old olive trees. Continue walking on the unpaved road in the valley heading north.

When you reach the fork (intersection Y), go right and continue between more olive trees.

You now are next to a pool fed from (Ain Janata). There is a blueberry tree and continue walking straight along the unpaved road.

Take the right fork (intersection Y) at the next Y-intersection and continue walking on unpaved road.

You are now at the bottom of the valley. Continue walking to the other side of the valley on the unpaved road, then turn right.

When you reach the next T-intersection, go right to cross the valley again and continue walking up the unpaved road.

You are now standing next to several Eucalyptus trees. Continue walking down the unpaved road.

When you reach the next fork (intersection Y)  in the road, turn left to the valley towards the large Eucalyptus trees. After another 20 meters, turn left again towards the valley at  the Y-intersection.

When you reach the Eucalyptus trees, turn right, and walk down the valley from below the Eucalyptus trees. Pass through some olive trees, and in the valley near the waterway through the Eucalyptus trees.

You’ve now reached the end of this walk. And are in front of a rocky slope in Ain Zarqa (protected area) where you will find a cave next to the unpaved road.
